Dr. Martinez is the mother of Ella Martinez who helps Max and takes care of her after she gets shot in the wing by the people who were harassing Ella. Dr. Martinez is kind of like the closest thing that Max has to a mother and being with Dr. Martinez and Max makes her feel like she really wants to be a normal human being and not have any powers. These are the first humans she told her secret too, about having powers.
